My readers know that I am about to release my second book, “Face-to-Face Networking” It’s all about Communication”. Naturally, I believe face-to-face networking is an important component of my marketing strategy. Yet, as an early user of social media, I understand that there is a need for social media networking in any individual’s or company marketing plan.

My sense is that many people have chosen to spend their days looking at a computer screen, instead of getting themselves out and meeting face-to-face. In their mind, it is easier. In addition, they can convince themselves that they truly are working on their company’s marketing plan.

I have been looking for some concrete examples of when using social media makes great marketing sense. This morning, I discovered George Guildford, an account manager at digital PR agency Punch Communications. His blog article Four Ways Brands Can Use Social Media in New Product Launches caught my attention.

It appears to me, this is an excellent way to make good use of your marketing dollars using social media.

IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS

1. Read other peoples’ blogs.
2. Comment on people’s blogs—search engines often pick up your comments.
3. When you find some interesting information on a forum, share it with others.
